Privacy Policy — Nihongo Chat

The short version

Nihongo Chat does not collect, transmit, store remotely, sell, or share any of your personal data. Everything the app does happens entirely on your own device.

What the app stores, and where

Your study progress, custom cards, and settings (review history, streak, cards you've added, your chosen level, language, and reminder time) are stored locally on your device only, using Apple's on-device SwiftData framework. None of this ever leaves your device or is sent to us or anyone else.
No account or sign-in. The app has no login, no user ID, and no way to identify you.
No analytics or tracking. The app does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Notifications

If you enable the optional daily reminder, it's scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's local notification system. No server is involved.

In-app purchases

The one-time “unlock full library” purchase is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit / App Store. We never see or store your payment information. See Apple's privacy policy.

Dictionary data

The app includes a bundled Japanese–English dictionary derived from JMdict (EDRDG), used under their licence. Lookup does not send your search anywhere.

Children's privacy

The app does not collect information from anyone, including children.

If data practices change, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
